22 Quartets have entered the 19th Lyon International Chamber Music Competition. Fewer than ten will be invited to take part in the competition in Lyon next April.
26 different nationalities are represented in these ensembles, 48 women, 40 men, average age 27.9, which come from 4 corners of the world: Europe, USA, Canada, Korea and China. This huge diversity reflects the way string quartets are played all over the world, and the importance of visibility, building a reputation and gaining recognition... all issues that the competition brings together.
The pre-selections will be announced in early February.
Stay tuned!
